Drew McIntyre returns to WWE, immediately gets taken out with an RKO
Drew’s surprise return to WWE didn’t exactly go as he planned.
Drew McIntyre hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since he lost a steel cage match against Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event in May. But that changed on tonight’s (July 4) episode of SmackDown when Drew made his surprise return to interrupt a respectful conversation between Randy Orton and King Cody Rhodes.
McIntyre mocked Cody and Randy for their pathetic “beta male energy” in the ring. Drew said Cody was always out to stab Randy in the back. The Viper was gullible enough to think Rhodes cared about him, which is why he hesitated to punt him at Night of Champions. As far as Drew is concerned, the legend of Randy Orton is dead.

Drew said unlike some people, he won’t hesitate to go for the kill when he gets his next WWE championship match. Orton had enough of Drew’s bullshit at that point and abruptly laid him out with an RKO.

Later in the show, Nick Aldis booked a match between Drew and Randy at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.
