Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of families left behind by soldiers who died in service to the nation.
Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, spoke on Thursday during a special parade and wreath-laying ceremony to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Arcade Ground, governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He said fallen heroes and veterans deserve recognition, noting that the peace and unity Nigerians currently enjoy stem directly from their patriotism and ultimate sacrifices.
The governor described the annual Remembrance Day event as a major way for the government to honour past heroes amid persistent national security challenges.
Abiodun commended the professionalism, discipline, and dedication of Nigerian soldiers, noting that their efforts have continued to sustain peace and stability in Ogun state and nationwide.
“We do not take your sacrifices for granted,” he said.
The governor prayed for the repose of the souls of departed soldiers and officers while assuring that his administration would keep prioritising the welfare of their families.
